What are 3 words you would use to describe EAG?

    • Stimulating
    • Rare
    • Dedicated

What’s been one of your proudest moments working at EAG?

There have been several projects that I have been very proud to work on at EAG, however, the proudest was working with a Business Intelligence product used to scrape and automate data entry, called Grooper.  Not knowing anything about the product or the accounting practices required to process these documents, I was able to build a business process that takes various statements from paper form to electronic in a matter of minutes.  This in turn allows our BPO team to focus on validation rather than data entry which is very mundane and labor intensive depending on the number of transactions.

What advice do you have for prospective candidates that want to join EAG?

The EAG Way really sets us apart from other organizations.  You won’t find a more humble, knowledgeable, and supportive team anywhere!  In my 25+ years career, I have never worked with a team of individuals who believe more in knowledge transfer and support of their fellow teammates.

What’s one thing – either industry-related or not – you learned in the last month?

Prior to coming to EAG, I thought it was just oil and gas, boy was I wrong.  After processing hundreds of statements, it became very apparent how the molecular breakdown of the products coming out of the ground plays in the overall value of the product.  Furthermore, how the process of extracting the product impacts the delivered volumes after field and plant losses.

What do you like to do in your free time? Any favorite places you like to visit?

In my spare time outside of vacations, you will generally find me spending time playing PC games with my son and daughter, which is generally filled with them both competing to show each other up or just prove they are better than their dad.  When we are not playing games and the temperatures are below 100, you will find us taking a short 5-hour drive to my Uncle’s property where we will hunt, fish, hike and just tell good ole stories.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I really enjoy putting on my Chef hat and cooking meals for the family.  Most of my dishes are cooked to order. However a household favorite is steak and broccoli, which is my daughter’s most requested dish.  Steaks and burgers are always a good meal, however they have become too simple to cook for my liking since there really isn’t much you can or should do when it comes to seasoning a good steak. It mainly boils down to cook time.  To challenge myself and the knowledge of how ingredients complement each other, I lean towards cooking dishes that require more finesse and preparation.  For instance, the wife has been craving scallops so we enjoyed some smoked scallops with a citrus zest that could have only been better had there been more!  In this instance the recipe was from a popular website but contained some items we didn’t have and included items the family doesn’t care for so I replaced those items with viable substitutes to create a dish that was fork tender and full of flavor.

How do you balance your career and family?

It has always been a challenge to balance my career and family life without creating unneeded stress. However very recently a personal event finally changed all that and made me realize that work will always be there, but family time can’t be replaced!  From that point forward, I dedicate time for each family member, from watching TV with my wife, to showing my daughter how to cook, or by wreaking havoc on some Call of Duty players with my kids.  We do a pretty good job of making people mad because they just can’t compete with us, just kidding!

Who or what inspires you and why?

Without a doubt my Mother has inspired me to become whom I am today.  There are many traits she bestowed me, but the most important one has been how money doesn’t buy happiness and the true fulfilment comes from what you give more than what you take. This can apply in so many aspects of life but if you’re always willing to lend a helping hand, even when you may not know the exact solution, it could change someone’s entire day and sometimes their life.
